ABOUT US
Why does anyone go to
a tailor? You go because you're falling
apart at the seams. Or because you don't plan to have
garment problems. Many of us are in a state of disrepair
somewhere in between those two extremes. It can be
overwhelming to find a skilled tailor and alterations
specialist. When you discover you have a problem, or will
have a problem, your garment solution lies in one or more of
three basic categories -- resizing, repairing and restyling.
I'm just the person to solve your garment problems for you.
Because I believe it's part of my job to literally hold up a
mirror for my clients to see their best self-image which emerges
when they are perfectly fitted in their clothing.

Why would anyone have a story quilt or soul quilt made?
A story quilt reflects back to you the essence of your life. So
does the soul quilt, deeply and mystically. Not only am I a
skilled technician of basic alterations, but I am a creative seamstress,
and life stories portrayed in fiber artistry are an important part of my
job. Because, again, it is my purpose to hold up a mirror for my
clients to see themselves, this time symbolically, and it is a
life-affirming experience for the individual commissioning this
keepsake. Please see the Story Quilts and Soul Quilts pages
for examples.
Why would
anyone restyle an older garment when getting a new one is so easy?
That's a great question. Think of it as deserving to transform
your clothes closet regrets into favorites that you will actually wear.
Or if your favorite tem is not worthy to go out in public, make it
worthy by, for instance, transforming an old sports jersey into a gym
bag, or using the good parts of a worn pair of jeans to make a purse of
"green" shopping bag! The possibilities are endless!
Why would
anyone sign up for a class about taking unused clothing from their
closet and cutting them up into pieces for a quilt? The
answers to that question are -- for the fun of it, to honor the earth by
recycling, and to bring those old favorites out into the light from the
darkness of the closet to remind you of who you are and develop
connections with others when they ask about the meaning of the story
portrayed on your quilt.
Remember, I possess all
the answers to your basic alterations needs --
like hems, zippers, resizing and repairs. Also
consider me for custom sewing, (such as prototyping an
invention that requires textiles, pattern drafting and custom-fit
clothing), and creative sewing as in the quilts
mentioned above.
I'm here to help, so let
me hear from you before you fall apart at the seams!
